You’re always existing in two world, and in one of them you are a divine creator being, and in the other you are a ship adrift. The world you physically perceived has shone out from your light in the past, but you can be shining your light always. You can project your inner-world into the dead world you perceive and give your Pure Lands cubic reality, your mental objects can exist in space. Yes, it’s subjective. You can imagine a flower before you and the people in this world cannot see it, only you, but they’re still in imagination even though not subject to your direct will. If you wanted them to see it, then your will can make their counterpart that can see it. You must always be practicing what the poet William Blake called ‘double vision’.
What to others a trifle appears
Fills me full of smiles or tears.
For double the vision my eyes do see,
And a double vision is always with me.
See what you want and what you have. See two worlds and decide how to feel. If you wanted a glass of wine and you only got water, turn water into wine; it isn’t hard and you can feel genuine joy. All your enemies are kind, all your days are sunny, your deceased friends are still here, fast food restaurants are luxury restaurants, and sometimes it’s just one thing, the sunset can’t be improved, a smile is already divine.
