Healing – Introduction

In any work focusing on manifestation and spirituality, there is always a section on healing, which I used to hate because I just wanted to get onto the ‘meat’ of getting everything I wanted to perceive in the world (and feel that I owned it!). But if you stop and consider what ‘healing’ means, then it can’t be removed from the ‘whole’ of a manifesting spiritual life. By a manifesting, spiritual life, I mean to live with a mind that is disciplined, to create advantageous conditions, happiness and an underlying intent of ultimate realisation, which is thus unfolding.

So times we feel that we ‘need healing’ about something, some deep underlying issue, then what exactly does it mean and what is going on? It means that I keep experiencing unwanted, negative states of mind. During those times, mental pictures, fantasies and daydreams which I didn’t will come, into my consciousness with an underlying state which can always be described as some variant of unhappiness. This happens, on and off, repeatedly — meaning it won’t stop or go away until I do something about it. The specific content of the mental pictures always relates to me in some way and is generally about things that happened in the past.

This isn’t something inherently wrong with our being. It’s a natural process of consciousness that we allow to become diverted in a way that isn’t healthy. It isn’t best for us. There are some bad memories that we should recall and allow to guide our behaviour. Perhaps being bitten by a dog a few times in childhood makes you cautious around dogs in a way that is safer. We survived and evolved as a species with a mind that builds up experience and learns from it, and so that is good, as long as it is UNDER WILL and we can reign the mind with discipline when that process ever becomes illogical because we are holding something that needs to be let go or we drew the wrong conclusion in some way.

The central practice is to create ‘a Pure Land’, i.e. a disciplined mind. The fact that we are looking back in time is incidental. Healing means to deal with the repeating unwanted states and thoughts about recollecting our past, as they feed into a sense of current identity and limit who we are, our behaviours and the world we are manifesting beyond our senses on a moment-to-moment basis. This ‘healing’ is two ways though, not only into the past but also the future. We might have repeating worries or fears about what might happen in the future and they have exactly the same effect on moment-to-moment consciousness. They cause unwanted states (fear, worry etc.) and create mental pictures placing self/identity into various future scenarios which are negative. Those fears and anxieties are based on past experiences and so time is irrelevant as PAST AND FUTURE CAN ONLY BE PRESENT. This is fine as ONLY THE NOW MATTERS and the great news is that YOU ARE THE MASTER OF NOW. Healing your past isn’t only healing the future as well, it is healing the present moment, right now, where you are the ruler of your whole dominion, under will. Your Pure Land is now.
